WE HAVE WORK TO DO.
Throughout my entire career, I have been dedicated to the holistic development of young people. As a Cincinnati native, a graduate of the School for the Creative & Performing Arts, and a parent of CPS graduates, I have been part of the CPS ecosystem for over four decades.
I have taught middle school, high school, and college for over twenty-five years, and I run a nonprofit organization that exposes young people to college and careers in the creative fields.
In earnest, I love Cincinnati Public Schools, but with a love that both pushes and lifts. We are not yet what we need to be. Still, I am convinced that we have everything we need to reach the levels of greatness that ensure our students achieve at the highest levels, our teachers excel, and our administrators lead with integrity, vision, and the boldness necessary for CPS to be a catalyst for change in our region.
It won't be easy. Nothing worth having ever is.
So, let's get to work.
KEY PRIORITIES
WHEN WE COME TOGETHER TO MAKE OUR DISTRICT BETTER, OUR CITY BECOMES BETTER
01
High student achievement, district-wide
Every child in our district should have access to the same rigorous education that best prepares them for a workforce where thinking critically and creatively to solve difficult problems is a baseline.
To accomplish this essential priority, it is critical to provide unparalleled support to our teachers and staff. When that happens our students are both informed and inspired.
02
Collaborative Action + Collective Impact
The CPS Board is responsible for establishing policies and determining the district's strategic direction. It's also responsible for fighting for the resources to ensure our students thrive. Public schools in Ohio and across the nation are highly vulnerable to budget cuts that will be destructive to our ability to provide equitable, high-quality education for all of our students.
Coming together to fight for funding equity is mandatory.
03
Fighting for our District
The role of the board is to provide strategic policy making and governance that provides clear directional growth for the district. Now, more than ever, that will include working together to fearlessly advocate for our students, teachers and district leaders.
Public schools in Ohio and across the nation are highly vulnerable to budget cuts that will be destructive to our ability to provide equitable, high-quality education for all of our young people.
Coming together to fight for resources on every level is mandatory.
04
Student Readiness
The workforce that our students will enter has undergone irrevocable changes in very short order, with more changes to come.
I believe that it is therefore critical that we create policies, remove barriers, and support our educational experts in ways that best prepare our young people not only to compete but to be leaders in an ever-changing workforce.
